Saying Goodbye to the Subaru Legacy

September 25th, 2025 by

After 36 years of continuous production, the final Subaru Legacy has rolled off the line at Subaru of Indiana Automotive.

The last model, a 2025 Legacy Limited in Magnetite Gray, represents everything the Legacy has stood for – safety, reliability, and all-weather confidence.

Since its debut in 1989, the Legacy made history as Subaru’s first U.S.-built vehicle and went on to sell more than 1.4 million units. Known for its practicality, safety ratings, and rally roots, it also gave rise to one of Subaru’s most iconic models – the Outback.

While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, Subaru is already moving forward. The Indiana plant will now focus on building the Forester and all-new Forester Hybrid, reflecting today’s shift toward SUVs and electrification.

At Competition Subaru, we’re proud to celebrate the Legacy’s lasting impact. Its spirit lives on in every Subaru we drive today – and in the adventures still to come.
