Performance
The 2025 and 2026 Outback share the same powertrains. The entry-level powertrain is a four-cylinder, 2.5-liter gas engine that delivers 180 horsepower. In the 2025 model, it made slightly more power with 182 hp. The upper trim levels come with a turbo 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that is good for 260 horsepower. Every trim level for both model years has a continuously variable automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The Wilderness trim level for 2025 and 2026 also gives you hill descent control, electronically controlled shocks, raised ground clearance, and selectable drive modes.
Appearance
The 2026 Outback grows larger in size and also takes on a boxier shape. The result is a more commanding presence on the road. On the side, you’ll find squared-off molding over the fenders and lining the lower door panels. The reshaped grille now has a widespread mesh pattern. The dark, molded bumper has squared-off elements. The Outback’s headlights are notably slender and sit above molded fog light ports. Exterior features include all-terrain tires, up to 19-inch wheels, dual exhaust tips, rain-sensing wipers, and other features.
Features
In 2026, the Outback has a redesigned cabin along with an upgraded infotainment system. For both model years, the features available across the trim lineup are a wireless charging pad, leather upholstery, lane centering, lane keeping, heated front and rear seats, an onboard navigation system, an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a power moonroof, adaptive cruise control, a dual-zone climate control system, a blind-spot detection and mitigation system, lane keeping and others.
