The one major exterior difference between the two SUVs is the availability of a more “streamlined” grille. Both the Ascent and Traverse come with standard driver-assist features like lane-keeping assistance, cross-traffic sign Reading, and automatic high beams. The Ascent also includes Brembo brake calipers, while the Traverse comes with standard all-wheel drive. The 2022 Subaru Ascent also comes with a standard blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert. The Subaru boxer engine is also available in the Ascent, and features two separate spark plugs to help with combustion issues.
Performance
The big news about the Ascent is that it now sports a 260-horsepower engine. That’s compared to the Traverse’s 201-horsepower engine, making it a more powerful SUV. However, while the Traverse reaches 60 mph in just under seven seconds, the Ascent reaches the same speed in 6.6 seconds. That’s not a faster car by any means, but it’s still a notable improvement. Both crossovers feature the same standard engine lineup.
