2021 Subaru Ascent vs. 2021 GMC Acadia
The 2021 Subaru Ascent is a three-row SUV that can seat up to eight passengers in its spacious cabin. There is plenty of room for cargo inside the ride as well. Additionally, it is easy to enjoy this ride because of other standard features that is now included in its list of offering, like automatic high-beams and steering-responsive LED headlights.
The 2021 GMC Acadia, on the other hand, does not present any major changes from its 2020 version. It promises a user-friendly infotainment system and good gas mileage. The cabin is fine, but not as upscale as those found in its rivals.
Design & Style
The 2021 Hyundai Ascent basically holds 17.5 cubic feet of cargo which expands to about 45 cubic feet when the third row is folded, and 86.5 when the second row is folded together with the third row. This ride seats seven people, with an option to reduce the capacity to six if you opt for captain’s chairs at the second row. The third row is cramped, and the cabin, as a whole is not enticing. There are cheap materials that do not complement its soft-touch surfaces.
Technology & Safety
The 2021 Ascent carries a 6.5-inch touch screen for its remarkable Starlink infotainment interface. This one has physical buttons which can be used to adjust climate and audio settings. Other than the smartphone integration feature via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, it also has six speakers, four USB ports, satellite radio, and Bluetooth. Safety features include forward automatic emergency braking, pre-collision throttle management, adaptive cruise control, lane departure and sway warning, and lane centering and lane keep assist, among others.
There is also an intuitive infotainment interface in the Acadia. This includes an eight-inch touch screen that responds to user inputs, and is located near the driver’s seat. It integrates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto without much problem too. It has six speakers, five USB ports, satellite radio, and Wi-Fi hot spot. Driver aids standard to the SUV are not as comprehensive as the ones found in the Ascent though. All it has are rear parking sensors, rear-seat reminder, rearview camera, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and the Teen Driver.
Performance
The 2021 Subaru Ascent carries a turbo-four, 2.4-liter engine that makes it result in up to 260 horsepower. Its counterpart in the GMC only produces up to 230 horsepower.
The Bottom Line
The 2021 Subaru Ascent outpowers the GMC Acadia. It is also better in terms of overall appeal, and safety technologies. This makes the SUV a better choice over the Acadia.
