2020 Subaru Outback vs. 2020 Buick Encore
The newly redesigned 2020 Subaru Outback is fitted with a lovely cabin that serves several adults and provides a huge luggage space. It is installed with a high-end interior and has off-road capability compared to its rivals. The Outback is more comfortable, spacious and more versatile than its previous model.
The latest 2020 Buick Encore is one of the smallest SUV in the market. Fitted with a smaller engine than the Outback, the Encore loses all semblance of powertrain potency. Although the interior has comfortable seats and is fitted with high tech features, the cabin size can only cater to four adults. The Encore does not have a whole lot of space for its luggage compared to the Outback which has 512 liters of boot space.
Design & Style
The 2020 Subaru Outback has fully padded leather seats that create an overall premium environment that is pleasant to the eyes and touch. Squishier armrest, smooth dashboard, and comfortable seats make the cabin a showstopper. Leather stitches on doors, consoles, and high-quality switches elevate the overall ambiance. Deep cupholders and decent sized compartments to keep your belongings add on to the design features of the Outback.
Cheap hard plastics on the door panels, lower center console, glossy black trims that don’t match those on the doors, the 2020 Buick Encore has a subpar interior that is unimpressive. Cushion armrest and soft-touch dashboard provides a more upscale atmosphere to the cabin together with a flush-mounted infotainment touchscreen. Due to its high seating, taller drivers might find the bottom seat too narrow. A class-average cabin space and a small cargo on the Encore does little to impress.
Technology & Safety
In all the 2020 Outback models, an 11.6-inch touchscreen with the latest technology is integrated with a standard infotainment system. Applications such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are compatible and generally easy to us. Crisp graphics and neat layout on the touchscreen elevate the overall user interface. Safety features on the Outback model include a collision warning, cruise control, lane-centering steering, a blind-spot alert and many more. All these features will ultimately keep you and your passengers safe.
The Encore is fitted with a standard 8.0-inch infotainment system that is compatible with Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto capability. Due to its small back seats, some might find it hard to fit in child safety seats. Other than that, the Encore comes with only a few safety features such as a forward-collision warning system, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning alert.
Performance
The Outback has a 2.5-liter engine that unleashes 182 horsepower which provides enough power during a full load of passengers and cargo. The CVT that is fitted in the Outback keeps revs low which results in a much quieter ride around town. Steering around corners is precise enough to turn at high or low speeds which promotes a sense of driving experience. Handling is great even on off-road surfaces.
The only engine that is available for the Encore is an underpowered 138-hp engine. Handling and ride quality are about average, and it makes an unpleasant noise during aggressive acceleration. On bumpy terrains and uneven roads, the Encore does relatively well despite its small stature.
The Bottom Line
Boasting a more spacious cabin and providing a comfortable driving experience, the 2020 Subaru Outback trumps all other SUVs. It has one of the most useful roof rails in the market if you need it for actual utility. The redesign for the 2020 model enhances its overall status which provides a more pleasant and enjoyable vehicle for repeat customers than its previous design. The 2020 Subaru outback is a superior choice among drivers and has more appealing alternatives than its rivals.
Although the 2020 Buick Encore is relatively small, it still performs decently while cruising at highway speeds. Its size in design gives it more maneuverability but has tepid acceleration. Extra safety features are only available on the top trim model. There isn’t much space for cargo and seats aren’t particularly roomy. The Encore could only fit a small family of four.
