2020 Subaru Loves Pets Adoption Initiative Found Loving Homes For More Than 20,000 Shelter Pets

Thanks to participating Subaru retailers and animal-loving customers and supporters, the October 2020 Subaru Loves Pets adoption initiative found loving homes for 22,961 shelter pets. The Subaru Loves Pets 2020 campaign highlighted hard-to-adopt shelter dogs, also known as “Underdogs.”

The hard-to-adopt shelter dogs included dogs with special needs, specifically senior dogs, amputees, visually and hearing-impaired dogs, and dogs with congenital disabilities and physical challenges. As a result, 16 percent of the 22,961 reported adoptions were classified as dogs with special needs. Learn more about the Subaru Loves Pets 2020 Adoption Initiative here.

In October of 2020, Subaru launched the second annual National Make a Dog’s Day on October 22nd to support shelter animals. Nearly 519 participating retailers held or sponsored pet adoption events throughout the month, supporting more than 500 local shelters across the country. Subaru’s pet-focused efforts have led to the adoption and support of more than 250,000 shelter pets to date.

Competition Subaru of Smithtown is proud to have partnered with Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue in Port Jefferson Station, NY for the 2020 Subaru Loves Pets initiative. Competition Subaru donated $100 a day for every pet adoption at Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue for the month of October, resulting in a donation of $3100. In addition, we thank everyone who came out to our dealership for our Adoption Event on National Make A Dog’s Day. There’s nothing we love more than seeing a bunch of happy faces and furry friends fill up our showroom!
